Our History
Established during COVID-19
The B.L.A.C.K. Masterminds is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that was organized in 2020 by a group of entrepreneurs and community leaders. What started as a micro group of people connecting over Zoom to highlight Black businesses and Black issues, evolved into a hybrid resource for business owners and changemakers worldwide. Today, The B.L.A.C.K. Masterminds aims to build entrepreneurial and community leaders by facilitating and creating opportunities for shared learning that are grounded in the following four pillars of the African American community.
Vision
Our vision for impact:
Create a collective community from all over the world, that shares and gain knowledge to increase business connections, support black-owned businesses and ultimately addresses the disadvantages and barriers to opportunities for black entrepreneurs.
Help entrepreneurs execute business ideas, plans and initiatives for the community, and
Connect people by meeting them where they are, providing resources to help elevate professional development, entrepreneurship and community impact.
B.L.A.C.K. Friday Takeover
According to the latest reports, it is expected that over $200 billion will be spent on Black Friday in the United States. On a day that is traditionally known for consumerism, The B.L.A.C.K. Masterminds reimagined Black Friday to be a day of inclusion, community building, networking, business spotlights and knowledge exchange - branded as “The B.L.A.C.K.Friday Takeover”.
Launched in 2020, The B.L.A.C.K. Friday Takeover is a 24-hour event consisting of networking sessions, business highlights, demonstrations, entertainment, and more. The primary objective is to circulate more dollars in the black community on Black Friday and showcase Black-owned businesses. Starting at midnight, the knowledge exchange flows continually for 24 hours. Entrepreneurs, community influencers, families, artists, and other conscious change-makers convene from all over the country to share best business practices, open a dialogue to create new ways to exchange resources, network and ultimately spark a new way of thinking about wealth and what it means for the community-at-large.
